His Worship Frank Scarpitti, Mayor Town of Markham.
(Excerpt from a speech)

“... Now I have to say, congratulations to Maya Djafarova for really, the inspiration behind the school and although it’s been around for a short time, and although some of the talent that we heard from today haven’t been with the school for that long, I can see that there has been great benefit from Maya’s experience and her unique style of blending some of the Russian background with other teaching techniques and I want to say congratulations to all of the teachers for the school and certainly all of the students that are with the school...”
“... and I would just say, thank you Maya, continue the great work through the school, and some of you that know me know that I am a frustrated singer. I get a chance to perform every once in a while but as I keep telling people, I don’t have a signed contract yet. So I don’t know if that’s going to happen, but I’ll tell you something. With the talent that I’ve heard here this afternoon, there is an incredible future for you, and so one day whether you perform at Roy Thompson Hall, at the Opera House downtown, the ACC, or who knows, maybe even the new arena if we’re lucky to get that facility here in Markham, but what I hear is incredible talent and an incredible future and thank you for making Markham a great cultural place. Congratulations to everyone, thank you.”

Testimonials from Parents and Students

This past year as well as the year before has been so wonderful. They have also been very meaningful to me for which I will cherish forever.
Looking back, there are times when we worked hard note by note; there were also times when joyful tears took over the excitement of victory at competitions.

I've learned a lot over the years, and I believe that I will be even more overwhelmed with the essence of music as we explore the more sophisticated pieces in upcoming years.

Feeling gracious, I just want to say "Thank you".

I've noticed a huge difference in my sound. It's a lot better, and I feel more secure with what I'm playing. I feel like I'm finally ready to do good work and you really inspire me... I really appreciate all your knowledge and I'm so happy to be working with you.

I still have A LOT of work to do on the preludes, but I can remember most of the notes and the sound. I'm trying to create the pieces more than just play the notes, and bring about feeling now. The pieces do affect me at a high level, and I think it's terrific that you brought them to my attention!

I'm very happy to have Maya as my piano teacher!

You are so patient with my children especially with my young son who needs help with his focus and concentration. In a very short time, my two children have learned and progressed very quickly. Through your encouragement and hard work, they are building their self-confidence. This is a precious gift that they will be able to draw upon for the rest of their lives. Thank you so very much.

Florence - Parent of students in Grades 3 and 4

The majority of our students, upon graduation, continued with their careers in music and many went on to major in music at the University level. The classes always had a special atmosphere of warmth and friendliness.
